Training on ‘Solar Energy’ at The Serenity
A unique experiment and awareness program on ‘Solar Energy’ was organized by Jeevantirth at The Serenity Library and Botanical Garden. The teams of ‘The Serenity Trust’ and ‘Harit Sena & Nature Club’ team members of Jeevantirth refreshed their knowledge and skill on 21st may 2025, to conduct a session on ‘Solar Energy’ during Nature Education Sessions with various target groups. Our approach is learning by doing; and all children should be given an opportunity to learn, something to feel and something to take away home.
In this workshop, all those present saw various models powered by solar energy and also enjoyed the taste of food cooked with the heat of the sun. The main objective of this program was to create awareness about the importance of solar energy as a renewable energy source and to promote its use in daily life. Deepti Raju set the tone with ‘Prakruti Prarthna’ – Preyer written by Narayan Desai. The first task was to install various types of Solar Cookers with different recipes to cook. Then all set their hands on making five types of Toy size Solar Cookers. It was followed by presenting few solar toys like boat, car, fountain, dancing doll and few solar powered insects like Cockroaches and Spiders.
Exhibition on Solar Energy was also displayed and observed by the 30 odd participants.
The delicious food prepared using solar cooker was enthusiastically enjoyed by all the attendees, which provided a living proof of the efficiency and practicality of solar energy.
“We are committed to promoting the use of solar energy and creating awareness towards environmental protection. Through this program, we have prepared a team of educators who will inform people about the benefits of solar energy and motivate them to use it in their daily lives. We hope that such experiments will encourage more people to adopt solar energy in the future.”
Teachers’ Training at ‘Ranip Lok Seva Kendra’
One day training was facilitated by HakimBhai on 22nd May 2025.
This training was divided in two parts; the first part on covered ‘Team Building, Problem Solving and Leadership Development’.
In the second part ‘Importance of Dialogue in Daily Life’ was covered.
In the first part our team was divided in to small four groups, each group was given some basic material and the task was to prepare a model so that you can throw an egg from the third floor and it shouldn’t break! All the groups worked well and completed the task. In doing group work they learnt many practical lessons of group dynamics. Out of the four teams, only one team’s egg broke. Kudos to the participants and the facilitator!
Dialogue, or meaningful conversation, is crucial in daily life for building strong relationships, fostering understanding, and resolving conflicts. It allows for sharing perspectives, exploring ideas, and developing empathy, ultimately enriching our interactions and promoting personal growth. Our team realized the importance of dialogue through play-way methods. Everyone had a lot of fun in this training and did all the activities with joy.

AUNTYPRENEUR
“Kuch Karke Dekho, Achcha Lagta Hai” – ‘Do something and see, you will feel good’ – is a group of young philanthropists, who regularly comes to Jeevantirth and contributes; always in kind, in one or the other way in our Urban Initiative Programs. RajBhai and Pinki Shah are leading the initiative and they become the bridge in bringing kind-hearted people to share their wealth and joy with our children and women.
JeniBen, Mother of Manthan; expressed her desire to showing new Gujarati film to our 230 Women Members of SHGs and Jeevantirth staff, “Aunty- Preneur” – Aunty + Entrepreneur.
The story runs like this: ‘Dharti No Chhedo Ghar’ (At the end of the world, it is home). A cooperative housing society in Mumbai is about to be demolished if the pending dues are not paid in three months. Jasuben Gangani (Supriya Pathak Kapur) plans to turn into an Auntypreneur. Seeking guidance from her son-like tenant, Raju (Parikshit Tamaliya), she builds a team with other ladies.
They enter the share market and using their intelligence and gut feeling, they gamble. They do lose at times, they win too, but at what cost? The ensuing drama, filled with rib-tickling comedy, makes for an interesting and empowering tale.
We all enjoyed the film on 19th May at Shiv Cinema – with Popcorns and Cold Drinks offered to us – very much; but real fun and drama happened once film was over and we were just going out. Somebody asked us to be there for just five minutes. And… to our surprise, Young Talented Actor of the film – Parokshit Tamaliya, appeared live before our eyes! He said; “Silently, hiding myself, I was watching your expressions. I am immensely happy that you all enjoyed the film and you were responding ups and down of the story with utmost genuineness.”
His friendly gesture and asking free and frank feedback from the slum women touched hearts of all.We thank him and express all the best in his carrier. We also express our gratitude to our Friends of Jeevantirth who facilitated and sponsored this wonderful event.

Summer Camp at Abhivyakti
A 9-day educational camp was successfully organized by “Ashadeep Manav Vikas Kendra” in partnership with Jeevantirth at ‘Abhivyakti’. 17 children participated enthusiastically, along with them Ankit Sir and Nikita Mem also helped actively facilitated the camp. The children came to the camp on the evening of 5th May and say goodbye on 13th May. The main objective of the camp was to increase the academic knowledge of the children as well as life skills, discipline, confidence, and personality development. SamirBhai was the main facilitator. Under his abled guidance we all worked in perfect harmony.
A significant increase in the children’s study habits and self-confidence was observed. Children developed curiosity about new subjects. After spending 9 days in the camp; children got various information about nature, birds; Improvement was observed in technical skills, language skills, changing lifestyle positively – eliminating bad habits; teamwork improved, started doing one’s own work like washing one’s own clothes and dishes; reduced mobile habits, started eating healthy food and went through silent transformation.
The children who were not even 1 minute away from their mobiles remained without mobiles in the camp. And even after the camp, they took a pledge not to use mobiles much. The children also had a lot of fun walking around. I joined the camp as a volunteer and learned a lot from this camp. The children gave me a lot of love. I really liked being with the children; learning and playing. The children liked this camp so much that they were not ready to go home. While leaving, all the children were crying. And again, they left saying that they would come soon. Such camps are indispensable for the holistic development of children.

Elimination of child Labour
Like every year, a campaign is being run across the country for the 44 days between April 30 and June 12 on the issue of “Elimination of child Labour” in the name of “44 Day Campaign.” Gujarat also voluntarily joins this program. As part of this year’s program, ‘UNICEF’ and ‘Child Rights Collective – Gujarat’ organized three Consultative Workshops as a major program.
The “Shram Nahi Shiksha” (Not Labor, But Education) campaign is a 44-day national campaign against child labor in India, launched annually on April 30th (National Anti-Child Labor Day) and concluding on June 12th (World Day Against Child Labour). This campaign, organized by Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL), aims to raise awareness about child rights and the importance of education, with a focus on ending child labor and ensuring every child’s access to schooling.
Being an active partner of CRCG, Jeevantirth also participated in the consultation process.
Devbala Joshi and Deepti Raju learnt much and shared their experiences during the consultation process.
Such meetings are for proper policy formulation with the help of experienced child lovers. This process for policy formulation for the protection of children is for the purpose of creating a cooperative environment in what we are currently doing for the rights of children in our surroundings. Which will benefit the children of children’s homes, hostels, ashrams/residentials schools.
‘Shram Nahi Shiksha’ is more than a campaign – it’s a call to action!
Unite your voice with ours to demand education, not child labour.
Let us turn up the volume for children’s rights!

Street Schools in Palanpur
Holidays are something that kids look forward to. The break from school gives them a lot of opportunity to play and take a breather from homework and other school assignments. Even parents enjoy the brief respite, getting a break from waking up early and prepping school meals or attending parent-teacher conferences.
Vacation also hides a great opportunity to encourage kids to learn something new. Fun and engaging learning experiences during vacation can involve hands-on activities, creative projects, and exploration of interests, all while keeping learning fun and accessible. These activities can range from DIY science experiments and nature walks to art projects and even learning a new skill like coding or cooking. Our Palanpur team was active during vacation also and conducted fun-learning programs in 25+ slum areas in 15 Days. About 15 Games, Art & Craft Activities and Puzzles were enjoyed by 600+ Children.
