Right To Education Has No Meaning Without Quality Education
What We Do?
First we make aware parents of the opportunity to send their children in private schools under RTE Act then help parents to fill online application form in open window for RTE Gujarat admission under Gujarat Primary Education Act for admissions in primary classes. We take all follow-up actions and once they get admission, our BaalMitras go to school for extra hand-holding support on the bases of pedagogy of knowledge construction, with the help of TLMs and accelerated learning techniques.
Why We Do?
Under RTE Act-2009 willingly or unwillingly private schools do admit 25% children belonging to weaker disadvantaged groups but because of their background they are unable to cope up with the normal students and sometimes school authorities and teachers are also not that much sensitive to pay proper attention to them. Such children find difficult to cope up with the situation, get alienated, lose confidence and interest in the process of education, become irregular and pushed out from the system. We want to retain them and take best advantage of the opportunity they have studying in private schools.
Theory of Change:
If under privileged children get opportunity to study in good schools and they are given extra booster dose of learning opportunities by right pedagogy, Techniques and TLMs; they can unleash their potential, develop their carrier, change bring positive changes in their families, be change agents and contribute as per their capacities for Nation building.
During interaction with the principal of one of the school with our GCE team, he put a challenge before us to help students admitted under RTE, and that is how RTE classes first started in three selective schools in 2016-17.
With the extensive use of TLMs like cards for words, numbers, letters, pictures, charts of simple sentences, paragraph reading, pictorial stories, beads, coins, cowries, sticks, pebbles, dominoes, playing cards and dice etc. In 2016-17 we begin with 225 children of 7 classes of three schools, in 2019-20 we worked in nine schools with 415 students.
Observations & Learnings: Children become fearless and friend when we do fun-based educational activities with them. Peer-learning and experiential learning are most effective learning approaches during the initial years of schooling. Trustees, Principals and other teachers also come and visit our classes to understand the concept, methodology and effective use of TLMs by us.
“RTE project is being run by Jeevantirth in our school and we are highly satisfied and happy that our children enjoy and learn better by their love, skill and commitment.”
