Women farmers continue to be invisible and discriminated, engaged in highly exploitative working conditions!
Recognising them world celebrates International Day of Rural Women on 15th October every year Mahila Kisan Divas (Women Farmers Day)
Sukliben threatened her sceptic husband, “If you will not give this piece of land for experiment, I will go to my parent’s house!”. Tribal woman of Dediapada, district Narmada in Gujarat decided to work upon barren land ignored by her husband and cultivated herbal medicinal plants. With little support of Jeevantirth as an AadiAushadhi SHG member she not only improved her family income but her husband stopped drinking any her children studied well. She did land levelling, stone removing, well deepening and cultivated herbal medicinal plants. At present she is President of ‘JeevDaya SHG’, goes to sell her products in weekly village haat – market herself. Many women farmers are taking inspiration from her struggle.
