Republic Day – 2016

26th January is one of the few days that children look forward to at spending in their school. It is usually a celebration with participation activities like sports competitions and talent programs. The Bal Sanskar Kendras run by Jeevantirth mean much more to the children than academic education; their excitement for Republic day’s celebration augmented the atmosphere.

50 members from the Lions club of Ahmedabad were present on this occasion, Mr. Bharat Shah, President of Lions club of Ahmedabad, gave a speech on patriotism and hoisted the Indian flag. Sports and games followed the formal rituals. Classic games like lemon-spoon, sack race, skipping, IQ games, etc. were organized for the kids. These games were enjoyed by their grandparents during their time; in order to preserve such games we take in today’s children so that they might pass them on to coming generations. 300 children participated in the games while 1000 spectators boosted them. To further liven up the atmosphere, winners of each games were awarded medals.

There is a strange sense of freedom during participatory sports; one tends to drop down one’s own personality and gets dissolved into the team.
