(Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation) - Calamity Response:

It is observed that in the case of disaster - whether it may be natural or caused by social tension among various conflicting groups – poor vulnerable people are the worst victims.

Rescue, Quick Relief, Temporary Shelter, Trauma Counseling, Livelihood Support and Rebuilding Life are some of the important aspects of disaster mitigation. We humbly believe that to avoid such misfortune in future some long term measures like “Draught Proofing” should be take and people need to be trained for how to face such sudden happenings so that an impact of disaster can be made less severe.

Jeevantirth has never failed its duty in such misfortunes and always acted and collaborated with efforts carried out by other NGOs or Networks.

Anubandh Shala
(Education through Correlation):

“Anubandh Shala” is an action based educational research project in which we experiment various educational methods, materials and modules designed by us on various themes with the students of selected primary or secondary schools.

The ‘Dhyan Mantra’ dictum of “Anubandh Shala” – Education through Correlation is derived from the thoughts of three great personalities, namely Leonardo De Vinci, Shree Maharshi Aurbindo and Mahatma Gandhi who contributed a lot in the progress of human development.

“Everything is related with everything (and with its source) in this world; Our aim is to find correlation and to manifest harmonious music of life”.

Computer Training Program
(Computer Education and Education through Computer):

The decline in the overall growth of employment in 1994 - 2000 was largely attributed to a near stagnation of employment in agriculture. Unemployment and lack of marketable skill have a direct relationship. As per the statistics of the Ministry of Labour and Employment 1999-2000, percentage of rural workers possessing marketable skills is just 10% for males and 6.3% for female. Now a day Computer Literacy has become inevitable for rural as well as urban youths to get employment. Jeevantirth would like to create a cedar of young professionals from the rural as well as urban poor with required life skills who can also avail important information of the Government schemes to help their fellow beings through e - governance.

Jeevantirth also wants to exploit the possibility of the concept of “Education through Computer” by providing Educational Software and Educational CDs/DVDs to village primary schools so rural students can get maximum benefit out of it. Jeevantirth has procured more then 100 DVDs containing educational programs prepared by “Gujarat Institute of Educational Technology” and others.

Jangam Shala
(School on Wheels):

Instead of starting our own school or an educational institute, from the very beginning we decided to consider all existing or new coming NGOs, Schools or Institutes as our own. In the beginning we moved one school to another schools with big rucksacks and begs filled with educational materials in public transportation systems. Now we have specially designed TATA -207 mini truck in which we move from one village to another with various educational programs. In the year 2008-2009 our school on wheels visited about 120 villages and participated in many district and state level events. Believe it - it also went to RanThambhor, Rajasthan to save the Tigers!

Maitri Sangh
(Friendship Campaign):

It is very unfortunate that ‘the cult of violence and politics of hatred’ is being systematically promoted by some fundamentalist organizations for their meager wasted interest. The beauty of life is in Diversity and Pluralism. After communal carnage of 2002, Jeevantirth initiated the process of reconciliation among youths of conflicting groups by organizing Blood Donation Camp, Sports Events with the theme of play for peace, Celebration of cultural, religious and national / international programs together, Nature Camps etc. We have also prepared some participatory, elective methods and modules to understand our own prejudices and stereotypes so that we can overcome them and get united by accepting other people as they are. Through friendship campaign we share common understanding that as a human being we are all equal; we can reduce our sorrows and problems and double our joys by mutual sharing.

Sabar Sena
(Water Brigade on the banks of river Sabarmati):

Civilizations of the world developed on the banks of the river; even today you will find big cities of the world on the banks of the river. When in the name of development natural riparian rights of the people living on the both the banks is violated; river based civilization, ecology and economy is threatened how we can be a silent spectator. From the learning of our “Save the river Banas” movement of past, we decided to work with constrictive approach and positive intervention. Under UNDP – GEF – Small Grant Project we formed ‘Sabar Sena’ and carried out mass awareness through rallies, street plays posters and exhibitions, booklet and working models, live demonstration structures in selected villages.
