Almost a century and half ago, on 2nd October 1869, a saint was born on the holy land of India who would change the course of history for his country and the world. Bapu endured the toughest barricades of the British; while each door shut closed there seem to open another before his mighty will, his mighty will to stand by the Truth. Through Non-violence and Love, Bapu broke the barricades and gave India the taste of freedom.

It has been more than six centuries that Mahatma Gandhi left us, setting India as a shining example of Love conquering hate. Today’s modern lifestyle, however fast-paced, couldn’t be more rigorous than what Gandhi and his followers had to face back in the day. Yet, we fail to deal with the uprising global negativity in the same positive manner.

Jeevantirth, along with FICCI, organized a Peace Walk on 2nd October, 2016. More than 1000 children marched from Gandhi Ashram to Vadaj on riverfront road with a hope to remind people of our legacy. Non-violence and compassion are more than just abstract notions; Martin Luther King had said, “Christ furnished the spirit and motivation while Gandhi furnished the method.” He referred to Bapu as ‘the guiding light of the technique of nonviolent social change’.
