Diwali is the most awaited festival in India; it is waited for by elders, men, women, youth and children alike. It bathes and renews the whole society through its ways of reaching the deepest facets of our lives. The entire country takes on a festive mood and village homes await their owners. It is a festival of giving and receiving.
Our children from Baal Sankaar Kendras set the mood for Diwali by painting rangolis in all the fifteen BSKs on 25th, 26th and 27th of October, 2016. They also crafted greeting cards and painted diyas which they gifted to their loved ones and supporters of Jeevantirth present at the centers.
On the same days Jeevantirth distributed grocery kits to more than three hundred slum dwellers of Ramapir no Tekro. Grocery shopping at this time of the year is inevitable for the slum folks; recognizing this we decided to give them good quality goods at cheaper rates. It contained basic kitchen necessities like sugar, flour, pulses, edible oil, etc. On 29th October, 2016, senior citizens of Ramapir no Tekro were distributed sweetmeats and snacks on the occasion of Diwali by Give Forever and Jeevantirth. More than 60 elders benefited from it; presenting guests and loved ones with sweetmeats is a Diwali custom which the slum dwellers sometimes remain exempt of due to economic reasons. Aged folks living by themselves were sought out for this event to include them in the festivity of Diwali.
May this Diwali shower upon you the blessing of contentment and gratitude; may it provide us all with opportunities to serve, to be happy.
