Backdrop: In 1989-90 one wonderful idea came in the minds of Raju and Deepti. “Let’s Give One Hour of Joy to 1,00,000 Children in One Year”! It was not just wishful thinking. We edited 20 paged cyclostyled note containing host of activities like fun tricks, songs, riddles, traditional and Japanese Origami, jokes, paper craft, toys making, shadowgraph, Interesting facts, Chinese game tangram, indoor/outdoor games, simple science experiments, light entertaining exercises and what not! Then we trained about 500 College (of Gram Vidyapith’s, B.Ed.’s and P.T.C.’s) and High School (Post Basic – Utter Buniadi) students of different institutes of Gujarat. In the groups they went to nearby villages and covered 1,00,000 children of about 1000 villages!
 
Then “Sadvichar Parivar” published it in the form of special issue of “BalkoNu Chapun” in May-June 1991 having circulation of 13,000 copies. Getting celebrated response and further demand from all quarter of Gujarat 12,000 copies of it was reprinted in the booklet form.
 
And then material started expanding to materialize series of booklets on various themes.

Booklets one to seven are also published by well-known “Navbharat Prakashan Mandir” with colored titles. Jeevantirth publications are low-cost editions with plain titles. Matter is same.
 
“Khul Ja SimSim” Learn Magic Yourself: This book is written by senior most member of Jeevantirth, Babukaka who devoted his whole life for the children. “Bal Adhikar Mahotsav” Child Rights Festival: This is the child friendly version, written in lucid poetry forms about different child rights passed in the United Nation’s Convention on Child Rights in 1989. This ‘Save the Children UK’ sponsored book was released by famous danseuse and wife of great scientist Vikram Sarabhai, Ms. Mrunalini Sarabhai. Audio CD is also available.
“Be Pankhala Jeeva” Two winged Creatures: A unique book on bird life. On one side you will find beautifully explained line sketches and on the opposite side you will find narrations of different aspects of the bird life with stanza of appropriate poetry. The book was so acclaimed that it was reprinted by one educational magazine as a special issue. You will fell to fly.
